radical zero: Abarth 500e

Half as wild

The good news first: the sound generator can be switched off. There are supposed to be people who don’t want to drive an electric car that artificially sounds like the current 595/695. But if you need one, then – well, it doesn’t sound so bad.

Otherwise, it’s as to be expected. Abarth is now going all-electric (the 595/695 will continue indefinitely), based of course on the Fiat 500e. There is a bit more power, 113 kW/155 hp (Fiat: 87 kW/118 hp) as well as 235 Nm maximum torque (Fiat: 220 Nm), so the power dwarf should get from 0 to 100 km/h in 7 seconds. It is also supposed to come out of the bends faster than the petrol models. Well, then.

The Abarth uses the same 42 kWh battery as the Fiat, which can be charged with a maximum of 85 kW (direct current) or 11 kW (alternating current). The Italians have not yet named a top speed, nor a weight. And the car does not have a price yet either, first there will be a limited series of 1949 units called Scorpionissima.

If you are more interested in the classic Abarth, we have something nice: here.
