Pagani Huayra Codalunga

The Copy

Well, actually, what Pagani is offering is a bit embarrassing. And Pagani wants to talk its way out of it, saying that it started working on the Codalunga – longtail, we don’t want to translate it any further – in 2018 at the request of two customers. In 2018, however, the McLaren Speedtail was already on the market, and the first sketches were already shown in March of that year – in our opinion, the probability that Pagani simply copied an idea is around 105 percent.

Needless to say, the Pagani Huayra Codalunga is great. The 6-litre V12 BiTurbo from AMG with its 840 hp and 1100 Nm maximum torque is a completely different ball game to the 4-litre V8 in the McLaren. The only difference is that the Englishman then adds a bit of power in the hybrid drive, which produces 1070 system hp and 1150 Nm. The Italian is only ahead in terms of weight: it is said to weigh only 1280 kilos, whereas the Speedtail weighs more like 1.6 tonnes. On the other hand, we know how the Italians measure weights…

For one of the three remaining Codalunga, at least 7.4 million euros are due; the 106 Speedtail from McLaren were available from 2.4 million euros. The Speedtails have all been sold (and can hardly be bought for less than 4 million), Pagani is still looking for customers for the three Codalunga. They will be found, we are not worried – there are also rich people who wear a fake Rolex.

We have some more nice cars in our archives.
