We could, of course, discuss colours again, whether this Giallo Fly goes with this Ferrari 365 GT4 BB. 38 (of a total of 387) units are said to have been painted in this yellow at the factory. But sometimes we just fancy an extraordinary car in an extraordinary colour – and anyway, we also want to do a bit of advertising for our detailed story on these first mid-engine Ferraris with twelve cylinders, which you can read here.

This particular example also has an extraordinary history. It left the factory on 16 September 1974 as #18127, then went to Charles Pozzi in Paris, who sold the yellow Ferrari to an American living in France named Robert McGeehan. He wanted to register the Berlinetta Boxer in his home country, where the 365 GT4 BB was not offered. This required some adjustments and good co-operation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, but all went well, and in any case, #18127 made the front page of ‘Car and Driver’ in November 1976, under the headline ‘Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer: Legal at Last!’

The yellow Ferrari had a surprisingly small number of owners, with the last one keeping it for almost 20 years. It has, of course, long since been restored to its original European specifications – and is now being offered by Broad Arrow at Amelia Island 2025, with an estimate of $325,000 to $375,000.
