Long-term relationship
Peter Jennings didn’t seem to enjoy this Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, chassis number 5179 GT, very much. After just two years, he took it back to the dealer where he had bought it, Otto Zipper. But that was perhaps also the luck of #5179, because at Zipper, Larry Bloomer fell in love with the vehicle, painted in Grigio Argento (181940 M) with a black interior (VM 8500). Bloomer was no ordinary guy, but president of the Ferrari Owner’s Club – and he kept the Lusso for a proud 46 years. What then drove the American custodian of Ferrari history to have the Lusso painted in a metallic brown in 2011, is anyone’s guess – the last owner, a gentleman from Monaco, then corrected that a few years ago. Of course, this classic Ferrari still has the original engine, but at least it was given a new gearbox once. It is for sale at Broad Arrow, Private Sales (February 2025), and it also has a price tag on it: $1.85 million.
