A feast of colours
People in Stuttgart must have been somewhat surprised when, one fine day, a gentleman from the Far East ordered no fewer than 21 Porsche 911 Carrera RS Clubsport cars. But it wasn’t just the number that was unusual – he also wanted each car to be a different colour. In addition, these Clubsport models were to be fitted with carpets and the roll cages were to be covered with leather. There were also leather seats, each in a different colour, and the gentleman had also requested a leather-covered steering wheel. The Exclusive department took on the task and delivered the vehicles to the dealer in Hong Kong, Jebsen Motors. But then something went wrong: the customer no longer wanted his customised 911s, a dispute arose, and the matter went to court. In the end, the 21 Clubsport cars were lined up neatly at Jebsen – and no one there had any idea what to do with them.

Lars Petersen, a 28-year-old Dane who had taken a job at Jebsen in April 1994, had an idea: a racing series similar to the Carrera Cup in Germany. The Carrera Cup Asia was to comprise five races, one on the notorious track in Macao, with the local hotels and casinos coming on board as sponsors. But it never happened; there was too little interest – which may well have been due to the fact that the Leder Club Sport cars did not seem very suitable for racing. At the end of 1994, most of the Macao vehicles were sold to the Japanese dealer Art Sports.

VIN: WP0ZZZ96ZNS499281
Engine: 62N82601
Auction: RM Sotheby’s, Monterey 2021, sold for 357’000 Dollar, with these informations: «This stunning N/GT is finished in its original color of F9 Amethyst Metallic. Retaining its original M003 racing equipment, this “Macau Car” was fitted with a black RS interior highlighted by tri-color seat inserts and steering wheel by Porsche Exclusive. This example’s original engine was replaced in Japan with another from the same series, so it is mechanically correct. Imported to the US in 2017, this very special Porsche had recorded 70,383 kilometers (43,735 miles) at the time of cataloguing. It would certainly be the star of any Porsche club event.»
