Constant evolution
The Ferrari F40 with the chassis number ZFFGJ34B000080782 left the factory in November 1989 as a very good, early, red F40. It was delivered to Kroymans BV, the Ferrari importer in the Netherlands at that time. For the first three years it was allowed to be simply an F40, then it was converted into a racing car by Peter van Erop of Cavallino Tuning, at first in a somewhat restrained manner, without engine tuning. Still painted yellow at the time, 80782 was raced by H.W. te Pas at various races in 1993 and 1994 – and then sent to a performance cure at G-Tex in England in 1995. Which, in collaboration with Michelotto, resulted in at least 700 hp. In 1997, the Ferrari was taken over by the Englishman Michel Oprey – and beaten around the race tracks until 2006. The current owner then took over the car in 2019, had it repainted and refurbished by Zanasi in Maranello; in the meantime, the performance is stated as “up to 1000 hp”. 80782 is currently for sale at RM Sotheby’s as a “Private Sale” – without a price.
A nice collection of Ferrari F40s is being built, here.
