Of course, the Bugatti Chiron Profilée is a fine thing. Something like a Pur Sport, but less radical, more elegant. Bugatti customers apparently wanted a model like this, and it was built in Molsheim. After all, the development department is not really overworked. But it was only assembled by hand once, because orders for the Chiron in all its shapes and colours were so numerous that there was no room left for another version. But what was to be done with this unique piece, raffled off, sold for a good cause?
Bugatti gave it to RM Sotheby’s, and yesterday it was auctioned in Paris. And it only just failed to reach the 10 million euro mark (9,792,500 euros including commission, but then VAT is added); this makes the Bugatti Chiron Profilée the most expensive new car ever to go under the hammer. We assume that the car will go to Switzerland, where a well-known heir has bought up a wild general shop in the last few years, including quite a few Chiron/derivatives.
