Ferrari 365 GTB/4 – #15673

Picture book

Whenever we see a ‘Daytona’ on offer, we immediately take a closer look: it could be in a colour we don’t have or don’t know yet. So this Ferrari 365 GTB/4 was a bit of a disappointment, of course – Rosso Chiaro is almost as common as sand on the beach. But then we took a closer look – and found these pictures. A beautiful car, well photographed, which is always a great pleasure. Many owners of magnificent cars have no understanding of art, presentation or design; they only see $$$, and in Trumpian fashion, they consider a few hundred euros for a good photographer to be ‘no good deal’. Wrong. Totally wrong. Good pictures and good documentation only make a classic car more valuable – and «radical» offers both, by the way.

This Daytona, #15673, will go under the hammer at RM Sotheby’s in Milan in 2025, with an expected price of 500,000 to 700,000 euros. The information available is sparse: «Completed on 30 March 1972, this European-specification Daytona Berlinetta was delivered new to Auto Becker Dusseldorf in Rosso Chiaro over black Connolly leather—the same colour combination it wears today. One of only 1,105 left-hand-drive examples built, chassis number 15673 is equipped with a staggered set of centre-lock Cromodora wheels and a dashboard-integrated air conditioning system that is believed to have been installed very early in its life. By 15 May 1972, Auto Becker had sold the car to its first owner, who registered it in Holzminden in Germany as “HOL-DK 34”. The next year, the car was exported to Sweden with its second owner Leif Walhstrom. While with Wahlstrom and subsequent Swedish enthusiast owners through to June 2005, chassis 15673 was registered as “HGP 565”. In late-2005, this Daytona was purchased from Sweden by a Ferrari dealership in Kassel and then successfully submitted for Ferrari Classiche certification. Under current French ownership for the past two years, this Daytona has been furnished with over €8,000 of servicing by Garage Milliancourt, a marque specialist located in Tournon. Notably, the consignor specified a touring focus on reliability, so Milliancourt overhauled the car’s six Weber carburettors and further addressed the engine’s fuel system». Das können wir besser.
