Transformation
Let’s put it this way: every beginning was difficult. When the Veyron came onto the market in 2005, it received a lot of attention, but sales were rather slow, to put it kindly. Things didn’t get much better when the open-top Grand Sport was introduced in 2008. This can be clearly seen in this example, which was built in 2009 but only found a buyer in 2014. The buyer seems to have had a preference for red, as can be clearly seen; originally, #5040 was blue.

Let’s put it this way: radical is convinced that the Veyron still has quite a bit of potential. More than the Chiron. And ultimately probably more than the Tourbillon, of which it is not entirely clear whether it is being built in a clearly limited edition (like the Veyron, 300, then it was finished) – or whether Bugatti wants to leave all options open.

VIN: VF9SK252X0M795040
Auction: RM Sotheby’s, Paris 2023, sold, with these informations: «The example offered here was built in Molsheim in 2009, first finished in Blue Black Metallic, and is believed to have been retained by the factory until 2014, when it was sold to one of Bugatti’s valued clients. At the behest of its first private owner, the Veyron was refinished in the shade of Uni Black and Italian Red over a red leather interior that it wears today. The Bugatti was registered in England in 2017, but resold at auction in the same year, later relocating to Luxembourg. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer read 34,940 kilometres.»
