Bugatti EB110 GT – #39099

So very different

When Monsieur B. saw the white Bugatti EB110 GT at the official dealer Monte Carlo Royal Motors in Monaco for the first time, he knew: this one – and no other. ‘To me, the EB110 in the usual blue always seemed a bit cumbersome,’ he says, ‘but when I was walking through Monaco as a tourist and saw this car in the shop window, I fell in love with it straight away. And I bought it straight away.’ Since then, in October 1996, the only EB110 in Bianco Monaco has remained in the possession of the Frenchman, whose collection will be auctioned by Artcurial in Paris at the beginning of February. He has driven just under 20,000 kilometres in the Bugatti, ’it has always been a great pleasure for me, and the vehicle is also very reliable.’

It is often said that there is no arguing about taste and colours, and then this is attributed to some long-decayed Roman, in Latin, de gustibus et coloribus non est disputandum, but that’s all nonsense. The saying is not quite as old as that. It comes from the Spanish ‘sobre gustas no hay discutar’ and was first used in Latin by the Frenchman Brillat-Savarin in the 19th century – which makes it nonsense, too. Of course, certain colours look better on certain cars. Or not. Our opinion of the white EB110: fantastic. And actually better than baby blue. But maybe we should explain that in more detail.

VIN: 39099
Auction: Artcurial, Paris 2025, estimate 1,2 to 1,5 mio Euro, with these informations: «Homologated on 10 May 1995, the EB110 GT was then delivered to Monte-Carlo Royal Motors, Bugatti’s sole dealership in Monaco, where it remained on display for a few months before it was sold to Paul-Émile B, who registered it new in France in October 1996, first in the name of his company and then his own name. The car was featured in the magazine Auto Rétro in November 1998. In 2001, a valuation report by Jean-Michel Cérède noted a mileage of 10,330km. The car has always been looked after by Michel Magnin and used regularly, which explains its superb condition today. It had covered barely 18,000km in 2018 when a full service was carried out by B-Engineering, a specialist at Campogalliano, where Artioli’s Bugatti factory had been located; the work included replacing the Michelin tyres, adjusting the brake discs and replacing the windscreen, which had a few chips. The bill for the service (on file) amounted to nearly 12,000 €. It is the only EB110 GT originally built in white (Bianco Monaco) and was therefore invited by Bugatti to Molsheim in 2019 for the presentation of the Centodieci, an impressive hypercar developing 1600bhp, of which 10 examples were built as a tribute to the EB110. With only 19 387 km recorded and in immaculate condition in every respect, sold with its original piece of luggage.»

We have already written extensively about the Bugatti EB110, here, where we see Paolo Stanzani – and not Romano Artioli – as the central figure; there is also a collection that we are now trying to unwind. We have more exciting vehicles in our archive.
