Single-seater
We are somewhat surprised that we have never written anything about the McLaren Solus. Well, it’s probably because McLaren didn’t make a big fuss about this vehicle; the 25 planned models were quickly sold, and the four million euro price tag wasn’t enough to deter buyers. Each model is developed in close collaboration with the buyer, and the seat is tailor-made – which makes sense for a single-seater. A Solus weighs less than 1,000 kilograms, but it is not powered by McLaren’s familiar 4-litre V8 biturbo engine, but by a naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 from Judd, which delivers 840 hp and 650 Nm of maximum torque. The Solus, which is not street legal, aims to go from 0 to 100 in 2.5 seconds.

Here in the pictures you can see number 6 of 25. The vehicle comes from the Dave Frecka collection and will be auctioned at Mecum in Indy in 2025.
